THE ORIELLES COME DOWN ON JUPITER

Following the success of their widely praised 2018 debut Silver Dollar Moment, Halifax foursome and Heavenly Recordings signees The Orielles have made a triumphant return with their spaced-out new single 'Come Down On Jupiter'. Sonically dothing its cap to the likes of Broadcast, Stereolab and Lizzie Mercier Descloux, 'Come Down On Jupiter' is an exploratory cut that travels through interludes of varying intensity. Progressing from its washy beginning to the cosmic prechorus (?), the drums kick in just after the 1 minute 30 mark providing an almost unexpected kick up the butt. Hurtling towards a psychedelic wig out, which comes to fruition with a chorus of layered vocals at around 4 minutes 30 before bursting into a poppy outro, it's a complex, intoxicating and completely disorientating slice of trippy disco-punk that'll leave you feeling pleasantly bemused. Arriving with an equally excellent video shot and directed by Rose Hendry at Arments pie & mash shop in Kennington, the beautifully-lit clip makes the mundane magical through a subtly surreal lens. The Orielles second album Disco Volador will arrive on the 28th of February. -Holly Mullineaux
